What makes a long thread ?

So you want to be a star !! Well don't be embarressed you'r not alone ! Everybody does, if they're are honest with themselfs. And actually i can think of no better place to do that, than contributing your ego on a long thread.

Of course your brush with fame can become unpleasent, if people don't agree with your viewpoint. This is where EGO comes in and your brush with " stardom" can turn nasty.

So i think long controversial threads can be wonderful if we don't become to big headed with our opinion- because ofter all some lovely posters may just have different opinions.

Long threads are often what what i call " tea room threads" i.e what book are you reading.

Then we have what i call the controversial " stand me up and shoot me down threads" ie i am a Christian your an Athiest or visversa.

Political and current affaor threads often result in the loss of valued members.

Reward good behaviour and respect of fellow posters opinion threads tend not too last very long.

Terry your the master of intersting and thought provoking threads, that get few replys. ( with the odd exception)

Anyway you long thread posters on this board, do a little shopping around, the best threads often end on good terms but with out many posts.

a scandal is brewing in the uk.

for many years gangs of asian men engaged in rape and torture of young girls who were in the "so-called" care system.

it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.

i had originally thought that making the rules clear about what was and wasn't going to be allowed when discussing the michael brown verdict that we'd be able to avoid some of the unpleasantness that surrounded the subsequent trayvon martin trial discussions.. michael brown verdict discussion policy.

i had hoped that once the evidence came out there would not be as many people promoting opinions that contradicted it.

unfortunately, that appears to have been naive of me.

It is like the little man against the world whose criminality stands independent from the crime.

It makes a great story.

I agree Simon, ( BUT) i think it's not possible for Kate to see it that way.

Why?

I think Kate sees people as individuals, regardless of skin race and ecconomic situation. ( i think many people who were indoctrinated in to the " truth" became indoctrinated because they can't believe a people of a certain race can be indoctrinated into being evil"

Sorry kate, who am i too speak for you.

As for me i answerd Simons question on a tread i started today. It's hard to explain what we believe in words.

i have met many who i call " jehovers witnesses untill the day they die".

and i think one of the main reasons is jehovers witnesses do not wan't to change their living conditions.. i have reasoned that my motivation to awaken was i wanted to change my living conditions.. this motivation made me an enemy to watchtower indoctrination, which i now saw was blocking my energies for achiving my personal goals.

the " watchtower club" had now become my enemy.. i was now able to question the reationalism of watchtower doctrines, and i saw free discussion was not toletated.

A few years ago in my home town, a boy of 10 walks to school, he was stabbed to death. A lady went to help the boy she was killed.

The killer was never found.

The boy was muslim, the lady christian.

The reason for the killings?

A.The muslim boy of 10 was targeted. ( speculation)

B. The christian lady went to help.( fact)

In linköping we never saw that as a race killing. But what is more people from every point of view accepted it was a tragity.

What has this got to do with a policeman shooting a person?

Every week, every day we have killings, and T.V can elevate ONE killing and, create debate on ONE killing/ shooting....and people thousands of miles away become involved.

My personal opinion is when " T.V" gets involved it's " entertainment" and the media is delighted to create debate. So the " race" card becomes a story, as do most crimes that are committed by " beautiful" " rich" or " powerful people"

So we can poss questions and debate this story, because it functions in the world of " media ratings" that created the story.

Most guilty/ innocent stories of people with less " media" exposure we ignore.( Black or white)

I was now able to question the reationalism of watchtower doctrines, and i saw free discussion was not toletated. To be a member of the club i had to submit to the collective thinking, and that thinking would not allow me to change my living conditions.

Now many witnesses are happy living in their ecconomic situation, and with out personal opinion. They are happy to accept 2x2= 5, and to reason otherwise with them is pointless .

It is of course not just J.Ws who allow their mind to be victims to this sort of enslavement. The prize of belonging to a group being accepted and working for group goals is purpose enough for many.

So anyway to those that have left the W.T how has it changed your living conditions, economically, interletually, humanly, ect, ect.
